Details
Petra is the stunning dark mahogany brown offspring of 3X Champion Pucara Surreal Sumbawa (the 2012 Futurity Champion) and champion producing dam, Pucara Makana, who is in the 2017 top 1% EPDs for fiber traits. Makana's fleece sports a fine micron with a slick hand indicative of the density that she has. She is holding an 18.9 micron at 9 years of age.
Petra is a Durango granddaughter, through her dam side and exhibits the best of Durango and MaGyver genetics.
Petra's dark lustrous fleece is very fine with great density in the lock. Slippery and cool to the touch with fabulous luster, she demonstrates the ultimate Suri fiber phenotype. Her frame is solid with good substance of bone exhibiting excellent conformation characteristics.
Petra won Color Champion and First place at the 2016 Alpaca Breeders Invitational show as a shorn yearling competing against never shorn alpacas. She also won First and Reserve Champion in color class of 16 at the competitive 2016 GWAS show. Her fiber is so dense that we chose to shear her as a juvenile. Her regrowth of beautifully deep, lustrous mahogany fleece is stunning.
Dr. Norm Evans' 2017 biopsy reports states Petra's density is 54.25 follicles SQMM. Her S/P ratio is 11.9 to 1 and she shows level 4 of 4 gland presence. Her micron spread between average secondary and primariy fibers is only 8.8 micron.
In May 2018, Petra had a stunning dark chocolate brown boy sired by 12X Champion Midas' Black Ice. This male has an extremely dense, fine fleece fully covering his strong frame. He fully expresses his champion genetics from both his sire and dam.
